oil on canvas

unframed: 45.4 x 54.5 cm.; 17 7/8  x 21 1/4 in.

framed: 57 x 65.6 cm.; 22 1/2  x 25 7/8 in.

The canvas is lined, the paint surface is slightly dirty, and the varnish is slightly discoloured and rather uneven. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a combination of scattered pinprick retouchings in the sitter's body, and larger wash retouchings in the background on the right and left. There are also some more concentrated areas of retouching in the sitter's cheek, shoulder and left arm. In overall fairly good condition.
