A Continental porcelain group of the Farnese Bull, circa 1890,

perhaps Rudolstadt

after the antique, enriched in colours, underglaze blue crowned N mark

33cm high

Overall of good appearance with a few minor scattered damages and restoration.

The neck of the lyre at the front of the group is lacking. A chip to the branch below the bird of prey on the left of the base. The figure of a maid to the back right hand cover has restoration to both thumbs and fore-fingers. Restored leg to the rearing horse being attacked by a lion to the back of the group. The bull has a restored replacement tail with some associated overpainting to the rump. The small figure to the from right of the base has restoration to his right hand thumb and fingers. A few scattered shallow chips to the edge of the base and minor rubbing to gilding. These repairs are not obvious and overall this is an interesting and decorative group.
