Two hardstone models of birds with gold or silver mounts


the first modelled as an eagle in Mesopotamian style, French, the textured gold head with ruby eyes in profile to dexter, the body of carved rock crystal and geometrical lapis lazuli wings, mounted as butterfly wings on the reverse, gilt-metal easel support, French maker's mark ?G in in a vertical lozenge, further struck: '750' for 18 ct gold, French control mark; and a realistically carved lapis lazuli model of a parakeet, late 20th century, retailed by Asprey & Co Ltd., the bird perched on a silver branch mounted onto a composite foot, the underside stamped: ASPREY LONDON
