A magnificent gilt-copper alloy figure of Shakyamuni Buddha
Nepal or Tibet, 13th - 14th century
The Buddha is preserved in very good original condition, with original gilding intact. The dots to the surface are the result of typical oxidisation of the copper alloy figure beneath the gilding, resulting in the formation of pits on the surface. There is some reddish oxidation on the lower body and forehead. One missing bead on top right florette. Minor chips to the hair curls. Other minor bruising and general surface wear.
