The Perpetual Calendar took the watchmaking industry by surprise upon its release in 1978. At times when quartz was threatening to change the industry forever, Audemars Piguet carried on with what they do best: extraordinary mechanical watches. This extra-slim timepiece embarks the caliber 2120QP, a sophisticated Jaeger-Lecoultre 920-based mechanical tour-de-force which was also used in the Royal Oak 5402 models and Patek Philippe Nautilus 3700.
Sold in 1982, the first series present example stands in very good condition throughout and is offered with its original suite of accessories, including its vintage presentation case and Certificate of Origin, dated November 11, 1982. Furthermore, the documentation indicates the watch was retailed by Les Ambassadeurs in Zurich, Switzerland, to famed film director Richard Lester.
