The reference 5054 was manufactured between 1999 and 2005, making great aesthetical use of the rare hinged case construction. This Officer case design harks back to the pocket watch traditional crafting, allowing the hinged cuvette to unveil the highly-praised micro-rotor cal. 324. During its rather short production period, the reference 5054 was available in yellow, pink and white gold in addition to platinum.
The present early white gold example was sold in 2000 and bears a white dial, interestingly decorated with Roman numeral indexes to its top part only. While the caliber 240 is a true development platform for Patek Philippe, this specific cal. 240/164 indicating the date, power reserve, moon phase and offset small seconds display can also be found in the Nautilus reference 5712.
