The Royal Oak is unanimously viewed as one of the most significant wristwatch designs to ever see light. Since 1972, the legendary sport-chic watch saw a multitude of variations come to life, including an elegant chronograph version such as the present piece.
The Royal Oak Chronograph was introduced in 1998, under the reference 25860ST. The timepiece was available with various dial colors and could be purchased in precious metals. This example stays true to the Royal Oak origins with its blue tapisserie dial, showcasing the trademark boxed guilloché pattern the Royal Oak has been acclaimed for since its inception. The F. Piguet-based movement incorporates a date and a chronograph, adding both practical and sporty features to the watch.
This specific reference gained considerable popularity as the legendary chess Grandmaster Garry Kasparov wore one during his professional games, and would always remove it from his wrist prior to his last, winning moves. The watch has since been nicknamed "Kasparov" by collectors.
