Rolex first launched these exceptional, white gold and gemstone-set versions of the iconic GMT-Master II in 2007. Three extravagant versions of this reference can be counted: the 116759 SA with diamonds and blue sapphires, the 116759 SARU with diamonds, sapphires and rubies and the present 116759 SANR with diamonds and black sapphires.
Instead of the stainless steel Oyster case and the standard Cerachrom bezel of the reference 11670, the present lot is entirely made out of 18k white gold. The top of the lugs is also adorned with diamonds and in addition, the watch has been given the distinctive feature of a diamond and black sapphire-set rotating bezel. The timepiece is reminiscent of the iconic GMT models of the past and is clearly a descendant to the flamboyant SARU models that bursted onto the scene in the 1980’s, arguably making this a future icon in its own right.
