Heuer launched the legendary Carrera in 1963 under the influence of Jack Heuer himself, who wanted to issue a high quality, aesthetically pleasing and legible technical chronograph. In addition to its name being a tribute to the Carrera Panamericana race, the Heuer Carrera has closely been associated with the automotive racing industry for many decades, as many illustrious pilots relied on these timepieces during practice and racing.
The ref. 2447 bears a high-grade cal. Valjoux 72, in other words the same movement base Rolex used for the Daytona. The dial was furthermore manufactured by Singer and offers a combination of visual homogeneity and precise legibility. This rare example features a red tachymeter scale around its 1st generation dial, bearing narrow indexes and hands without any black print.
