A GILT-BRASS QUARTER CHIMING REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK, LONDON, CIRCA 1850


gilt dial engraved with foliate scrolls, subsidiary seconds dial, signed in a cartouche Payne, 163, New Bond Street, London, the three train fusee and chain movement with six turned tapered pillars, ratchet tooth lever platform escapement with compensation balance, repeat striking the hours on a coiled gong at every quarter and chiming the quarters on a nest of eight bells, the case with bevel-glazed panels, shuttered rear panel, reeded handle, corners and feet,
