The reference 16710 was manufactured between 1989 and 2007, replacing the outgoing reference 16760 in a slimmer case design. Over the course of its long production, the model underwent several progressive improvements.
The present example was manufactured in 1993 and issued the following year. Preserved in unworn condition, this Coke (red and black) GMT-Master II showcases an immaculate case and bracelet and proudly displays its equally unmolested factory reference sticker to the back. Fitted with its intact tritium "SWISS-T<25" dial, the watch is furthermore offered with its complete suite of original accessories, including the punched guarantee, the original document holder with its booklets, the corresponding calendar card for 1994/1995, the original sales and chronometer tag and finally presentation case.
Ernest Brian Trubshaw, CBE, MVO (29 January 1924 – 25 March 2001) was the leading test pilot, and the first British pilot to fly Concorde, in April 1969. The Rolex papers accompanying the watch denote that this watch was issued to him directly by Rolex at their headquarters in 1993, more than likely in exchange for his watch during service.
