An invention of celebrated watchmaking genius Louis Cottier, the world-time complication became one of Patek Philippe's wonderful areas of expertise.
The reference 5110 was produced between 2000 and 2006, as the first world-time reference since the long-discontinued ref. 2523. For the first time, Patek Philippe replaced the 9 o'clock crown with a pusher located at 10 o'clock, allowing for an instant jump from one time zone to the next one.
The reference 5110 was manufactured in yellow, pink and white gold, in addition to the platinum variant. In 2006, the reference 5130 succeeded, followed by the current reference 5230.
The present example is crafted from pink gold, the rarest metal for this reference, with an estimated production slightly over 2000 pieces. The caliber 324 HU (Heures Universelles / World Time) bears the Geneva Seal, a collectible attribute since all Patek Philippe movements bear the Patek Philippe seal, introduced in 2009. This elegant 37mm wristwatch is offered with its original Certificate of Authenticity and documentation. Similarly to any historical Patek Philippe complication, the discontinued World Time references are certain to become even more collectible as the years go on.
