Patek Philippe released the reference 5170 in 2010, superseding the Lemania-based 5070. The chronograph was the first ever fitted with an in-house movement, entirely manufactured by Patek Philippe: the caliber CH 29-535 PS.
The case is reminiscent of vintage chronographs such as the 530 and its smaller counterpart, the ref. 130. The timepiece was released in yellow, white and pink gold, as well as in platinum, with several dial variations according to the case material.
The present 18ct white gold example touts the silvered dial, decorated with white gold Breguet numerals and matching minute and hour hands, the dial follows pure Patek Philippe design tradition. Collectors will particularly appreciate the pulsation scale, which was for the first time fitted to a serially produced chronograph.
Preserved in unworn condition and offered on behalf of its original owner with its original paperwork and presentation case, the present lot is a great opportunity to add one of the most celebrated chronographs of the current market.
