The Omega F8192HZ was one of the very first models equipped with the legendary Beta21. The movement was developed by a consortium of 20 Swiss brands to counter the Japanese quartz watches. In addition to Omega, which renamed it cal. 1300, the Beta21 was used by Patek Philippe, Rolex and Piaget to name but a few. As for these other companies, the movement was housed in heavy gold cases with futuristic designs, typical of the 1970’s aesthetic.
This model has an asymmetrical case which improves the legibility of the watch on the wrist, similarly to the driver’s pieces produced in the 1930’s. The crown is on the left side of the case to increase the comfort. The dial, made of solid gold as confirmed by the “OM” (for "or massif") on each side of the Swiss made signature at 6 o’clock, adds the final touch of luxury to the piece.
Presented on behalf of its original owner and accompanied by its original Omega guarantee, this lot is an excellent opportunity to acquire both an attractive example of the Beta 21 and an impressive 1970’s design timepiece.
