A GOLD OPEN-FACED QUARTER REPEATING KEYLESS LEVER WATCH

CIRCA 1804, NO. 31268

• Movement: gilded ³/₄ plate movement, lever escapement, bi-metallic compensation balance, repeating on coiled gongs, signed and numbered Dent, Watchmaker to the Queen, 33, Cockspur Street, London, No. 31268

• Dial: white enamel, Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute track, subsidiary seconds, Vulliamy style blued steel hands

• Case: gold case, repeating slide in the band, back engraved with British Royal Arms, glazed cuvette, inside case back with inscription, London hallmark for 1804, case makers mark WM

diameter 59mm

Accompanied by a gold chain with engraved agate fob

Please note the case and dial of this watch dates to 1804. The case is hallmarked 1804 and is not circa 1884 as stated in the printed catalogue. The case was later modified to accommodate the dent movement which most likely dates to circa 1895 and would therefore correspond with the later inscription dated 1895 to the inside case back This lot has been withdrawn from the sale.
