Rolex debuted the first Cosmograph Daytona with an in-house movement in 2000 via reference 116520. Previously, the brand relied on a Zenith movement that they modified and upgraded to meet their exacting standards. The debut of a completely Rolex-produced Daytona in stainless steel made the ref. 116520 one of the hottest sports watches on the market. Today, this model remains extremely popular due to its classic timeless design, storied history and wearability. The 116520 features a traditional 40mm Oyster case with screw down pushers worn on a matching flat-link Oyster bracelet. The bezel is in steel as well and displays a 400-kilometer Tachymeter scale. The black dial on the watch features chromalight indices and silvered subsidiary dial rings to enhance visibility.

The current example of the ref. 116520 is in excellent overall condition having received a service at Rolex in 2016 and remained unworn since. It is accompanied by its Rolex presentation box with outer packaging, International Warranty card dated August 1, 2013, purchase receipt, International Service Guarantee dated October 21, 2016, service receipt, plastic protective bezel cover, two additional links, booklets, and hang tags.
