Description

Château Latour 1970

Pauillac, 1er Cru Classé

u. 1ts, 8t/hs, 2hs, 1h/ms, 3 labels soiled, 1 slightly soiled, rest good appearance, 3 capsules slightly damaged, 1 capsule CRD, 8 corks slightly depressed

In 2019, I have never had a better bottle (from our own stock, bought in the 1970s, with perfect storage). Great colour and a true Pauillac First Growth cassis nose, with an affinity to Mouton here. Aromatic Cabernet at its height and headily scented with sublime terroir. A fabulous sensation on the palate, with power, succulence, fruit and...obvious future longevity. An incredible cocoa powder finish - intoxicating really. A sleeping giant - perhaps only dozing.
