FIRST EDITION, 2 volumes in 1, folio (520 x 338mm.), half-titles, dedication leaf, 120 colour-printed stipple engravings, finished by hand, after Pierre-Etienne Redouté by J. B. Dien, P. F. Legrand, L. J. Allais, and others, index and errata leaf at end, later maroon morocco-backed cloth, occasional spotting, some plates cropped (mostly imprints), slight wear to extremities
IMPORTANT MONUMENT OF BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATIONS.
A fine work with 120 handsomely coloured plates, demonstrating the highest peak of Redouté's career.
