FIRST ENGLISH EDITION, 4to (243 x 179mm.), title printed in red and black, dedication leaf, 37 engraved plates and maps (some folding), with 'Directions to the Binder' leaf, contemporary panelled calf, manuscript paper label to spine, occasional slight spotting or browning, front free endpaper becoming detached, slightly worn


THE KEYNES COPY. "His first English translation contains the same engravings as the French original, but is preferred to the latter because it contains a postscript by Edmond Halley which corrects certain geographical errors made Frézier" (Hill).
