The present casket of charming serpentine form and with rocaille decorative elements could be used as a tea, tobacco or spice canister. It belongs to a group of similar caskets, one of which was sold at Christie's London, The Collection of Giorgio Marsan and Umberta Nasi, 12-13 December 2007, lot 249.
