The canvas has been lined.
Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals some scattered fine lines of retouching, mainly to the clouds - an area in upper left and right corner, another cluster to a cloud next to the boats in the lower left corner, and near the mast of the central ship. There are larger areas fluorescing white under UV - a circular patch towards the top of the mast of the central ship, and a band of cloud in the lower right quadrant. The varnish has yellowed with time. Overall the painting is in good condition.
Presented in a gilt wood frame, in good condition.
