Built in 1465, the Blue Mosque in Tabriz was damaged in an earthquake in 1780. Decorated in blue and green Iznik tiles, the imposing structure of the surviving entrance was a spectacular sight. An oil version of this view by Jules Laurens and dated 1872 is in the collections of the Musée Fabre, Montpellier
