STILL LIFE OF ROSES, SNOWBALLS, PEONIES AND HYACINTHS IN A GLASS ON A LEDGE

signed lower right: Ver Coster

oil on canvas, an oval

12¾ by 10⅝ in.; 32 by 27 cm.

The oval canvas has an old relining that is stable. The painting presents well, with a clean, flat surface and an even varnish. There are a couple of small retouchings in the background which are visible. Under ultraviolet light there are few if any retouchings visible, the details in the flowers remain in excellent state. The varnish appears slightly uneven under ultraviolet light, but in daylight it is clear with a nice patina overall. The impasto in some of the flowers, particularly the white hydrangeas, is still vibrant and in good condition. Offered in a carved giltwood frame.
