A COLLECTION OF FIVE ITEMS:


i) Jerome, Jerome K., autograph letter signed, To Mr MacLaren, enclosing an article ("...I have purposely made it lighter in tone than most of your matter. I thought this just as well coming from myself..."), 1 page, 8vo, headed stationery of Monks Corner, Marlow Common, 29 April 1918


ii) Shaw, George Bernard, autograph card signed, to Hugh Rees, asking him to send works by Ibsen, n.d.


iii) Shaw, George Bernard, autograph form signed, endorsement of his passport for a six-week tour beginning 3 March 1931 during which he plans to visit France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Greece and Yugoslavia, 1 page, 14 February 1931


iv) Scott, Sir Walter, promissory note for £10 in favour of Scott, to be paid 50 days after signature, signed by John Ballantyne, 26 March 1810, endorsed by Scott on the verso and also signed by the bibliographer T.F. Dibdin


v) Zweig, Stefan, autograph letter signed, to Cyril Larkin, recalling that he planned to remain in town over the summer "where all the people, which steal our time are away", so suggesting that they lunch next week, in purple ink, 1 page, 8vo, headed stationery of 49 Hallam Street, London, 27 July 1938
