carved with a volute emerging from a calyx of acanthus leaves.

Height 24 cm.

Missing right corner. Center of volute abraded and chipped. Surface somewhat weathered overall. Ancient mortise carved into upper edge. Smooth and shiny surface on back shows streak of horizontal gray veining, suggesting that the stone could be Proconnesian marble.
