A pair of Italian carved lumachella brecciata minuta vases
late 18th century
with covers, each of ovoid form and with two handles, on a waisted circular socle, on a further square base
64cm. high; 2ft. 1 1/4 in.
In overall good restored condition. With very minor chipping to edges and scratches, all consistent with age and use. The restorations on these vases are not too distracting.
The finials of both lids are later.
Vase A
One repair to the small section of a leaf on one of the handles.
With signs of breaks to spreading socle, which has now been well restored.
It seems there has been a repair to one corner of the base.
Vase B
The area towards the top of the vase with signs of breaks which have now been professionally restored. One handle with signs of two breaks, which have been very well restored.
With signs of breaks to spreading socle, which has now been well restored.
Of good appearance and scale.
