Despite being dated “99” by the artist, it seems that Amiet did so by mistake and that the work actually dates from 1909. This is the dating proposed in the SIK-ISEA online catalogue where Franz Müller, (no. 1909.40), notes that this work was probably part of a group of seven paintings which Amiet noted in his “Verkaufte Bilder” list as sold to the Kunstverein in Frankfurt.
