A Russian carved pierced ivory rectangular box, circa 1780


the body overlaid with finely carved sytlized floral ornaments over yellow metal foil, the cover centred with a scene depicting a figure playing the flute beneath a small classical temple, flanked on each side with carved trophies, opening to a storage compartment

8.5cm. high, 26.5cm. wide, 14.5cm. deep; 3 3/8 in., 10 3/8 in., 5 5/8 in.
