A Charles II oak, walnut and yew veneered chest of drawers

circa 1690

the two short and three long drawers with geometric mouldings and veneered with reserves of yew, raised on flattened bun feet

93cm. high, 92cm. wide, 53cm. deep; 3ft. ½in., 3ft. ½in., 1ft. 9in.

A lovely example of its type. Generally good. One side rail to the right side of the top replaced. Brass work later. One brass escutcheon to a drawer missing. Typical old marks and scratches throughout. Drawers with a pleasing 'bow' from age. Ash drawer liners generally good, second drawer with replaced section of ash, veneers to this drawer front chipped at left side proper. Left lower return moulding to left side proper replaced some time ago. Evidence of old worm. Rich colour and patina but some surface scratches and marks, notably to the top.
