The arms are those of Maimo, an ancient and famous family of Catalonia, known at least since the 13th century. This chocolate-pot was made on the occasion of the alliance of two branches of the same family.
Salvador Dali, when he was made Marquis of Pùbol on 24 July 1982, was inspired by the arms of the Malmo family. Pubol Castle in Girona was the painter's residence.
