A PAIR OF MINTON TURQUOISE-GROUND TWO-HANDLED OVOID VASES AND COVERS, CIRCA 1855-65


after a Sèvres form, probably painted by Thomas Allen with mythological scenes of Herculese and Omphale and Diana and Endymion, the reverse with trophies suspended from ribbons, within gilt cartouches, above gilt berries laurels, with garlanded scroll and acanthus-moulded handles and artichoke finials, the necks fluted, the domed covers gadrooned, on circular laurel feet supported by square bases, printed puce crown and ermine marks and green ermine marks
