A Group of Four Egyptian Stone Scarabs

Circa 1st millennium B.C.


Including, An Egyptian Blue-glazed Steatite Scarab, 18th Dynasty, 1540-1292 B.C., probably period of Amenhotep III, the underside carved in sunk relief with an inscription; set in a modern gold broach with papyrus blossom terminals; An Egyptian Blue-green hardstone scarab, 26th Dynasty, 664-525 B.C. or earlier, with notched clypeus and striated wing-case; An Egyptian Deep-green Hardstone Heart Scarab, 26th Dynasty, 664-525 B.C., or earlier, of highly simplified form, the details perhaps obscured by wear. set in a modern gold mount; An Egyptian Steatite Scarab, 12th/18th Dynasty, 1938-1292 B.C., with notched prothorax and centrally divided wing-case, the underside carved with a decorative pattern of linked volutes; set in a modern gold brooch of vulture wings with flanking cobras.
