Marked "Secret" on the title page, the present War Office publication prints the complete texts of over 2,500 official telegrams, from or to the War Office and the Foreign Office, from the beginning of the conflict against Mohammed Abdullah Hassan, including the landing of British forces at Hobyo, the British defeats near Gumburru and Daratoleh and the eventual British capture of Ilig.
