16 hand-colored etchings for Captain G. C. Mundy's 'Pen and Pencil Sketches being the Journal of a Tour in India'. London: John Murray, ca. 1832
Oblong folio (17 3/8 x 12 in.; 442 x 305 mm). 16 hand-colored etched plates by Landseer after Captain G. C. Mundy; minor marginal toning, some marginal foxing, minor foxing to one or two plates. Later half grey textured calf over marbled boards, rounded spine with red gilt-lettered morocco label; corners rubbed.
A set of strikingly colored etchings
Mundy was commissioned as a lieutenant in the British Army, and took part in the Siege of Bharatpur in 1825. He was made Deputy Adjutant General of the military forces in Australia in 1826, served as Under-Secretary in the War Office during the Crimean War, and was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Jersey in 1857.
