A PORCELAIN VASE, IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY, ST PETERSBURG, PERIOD OF NICHOLAS I (1825-1855), 1828


of baluster form, each side decorated with finely tooled medallions depicting a village scene on one side, rural landscape to the other, with further brightly coloured scrolling leaf ornament on a blue background, flanked by foliate handles issuing from classical masks, the collar and lower body with raised acanthus leaf borders, the socle with similar foliate borders on a square metal base, the rim inscribed in Russian 'Imp Porc Factory/ 1828'
