enamelled in translucent violet over a wavy engine-turned ground, the hinged cover of the central compartment applied with varicoloured gold swags with a bow-tied laurel wreath, each of the three covers with white enamel edges and with diamond-set thumbpieces, struck on the inside Fabergé in Cyrillic, underside the lids with workmaster's initials, 88 standard, with scratched inventory number 29840
