Original canvas which is buckling slightly. Black plastic strips are stapled to all four edges. A larger and smaller canvas repair patch are visible in the lower left corner as seen from the reverse and a further small one in the upper left corner. There is a corresponding repaired tear on the recto of approximately 5cm in the lower steps which has been restored but is visible to the naked eye and another corresponding small repair in the beam in the upper right. There are pinholes in all four corners and a tiny hole with associated paint loss above the window arch in the upper left corner. There is a scratch to the right of the sitter's shoes and some flecks of paint loss in the impasto of her dress. Minor scattered craquelure is visible in the areas of impasto. Inspection under UV light reveals minor retouching to the aforementioned repairs. Framed.
