Possibly with Leonard Hutton Galleries, New York, late 1960s/early 1970s
Private collection, New York
Sotheby's New York, Impressionist and Modern Art Including Russian Art, 11 October 2011, lot 208
Acquired at the above sale by the present owner
The archives of Leonard Hutton Galleries contain a faded transparency as well as a black and white photograph of the present work. The label on the reverse of this photograph gives the address 967 Madison Avenue, where the gallery was located between 1969 and 1977. It is possible that the painting was on consignment sometime during this period as there is no record of it being purchased or sold by the gallery.
