Costume Design for a Veiled Concubine in Le Coq d'Or

stamped with the artist's signature on the reverse

gouache and silver paint over pencil on card

Sheet: 32.5 by 24.5cm, 12¾ by 9¾in.

Framed: 53 by 44.5cm, 21 by 17½in.

The sheet has discoloured in line with age. The left and bottom edges are deckled. There are pinholes in the top left corner. Some faint creasing can be seen running across the figure's head with some associated minor losses. Minor creasing is visible elsewhere. Scattered surface abrasions and scratches with minor associated paint loss can be seen throughout the figure. The silver paint has slightly degraded. There is a light layer of surface dirt, mount staining along the edges and the odd spot of foxing. The sheet has been adhered to the mount along all four edges. Held behind plexiglass and framed.
