The Duke's dinner service was delivered between 1840 and 1842, when Mortimer and Hunt, who were also delivering silver for his relative Ernest Augustus, King of Hanover (son of George III). A portion of the service was sold Christie's, London, April 11, 1951, lots 153-157. Pieces recently on the market include twenty-four dinner plates (Christie's, New York, May 17, 2012, lot 49); meat platters (Sotheby's, New York, May 23, 2012, lot 146 and Theodore Bruce, Sydney Australia, February 18, 2015, lot 183), and a smaller sauce boat (Leland Little Auctions, Hillsborough, NC, March 15, 2014, lot 844).
