According to Olivier Gaube du Gers, the design for these "Casseroles Couvertes sur réchaud" is retained in the Odiot archives and is attributed to Chenauard.

The Rothschild family has been mentioned in association with this model, and the CR monogram could be that of Charlotte de Rothschild (1825-1899), daughter of James de Rothschild, who established the French branch. She married in 1842 her cousin Nathaniel de Rothschild (1812-1870), of the English branch but resident in France, where he established Château Mouton-Rothschild.
