The arms are those of Arundell with Conquest in pretence for Henry, 8th Baron Arundell of Wardour (1740-1808) and his wife Maria Christina, only daughter and heiress of Benedict Conquest of Irnham, married May 31, 1763. A collector and patron, he spent huge sums of money on art and on having the family seat of New Wardour Castle in Wiltshire rebuilt by James Paine and Giacomo Quarenghi, best known for his work in Russia for Catherine the Great.
