DOROTHEA LANGE | 'END OF AN ERA IN A SMALL VALLEY TOWN, CALIF.' (FUNERAL CORTEGE)
'END OF AN ERA IN A SMALL VALLEY TOWN, CALIF.' (FUNERAL CORTEGE)
gelatin silver print, flush-mounted, titled and dated in ink, ‘38062 [circled]’ in pencil, and with the photographer's '1163 Euclid Avenue Berkeley, California' stamp on the reverse, framed, 1938 (Davis, p. 52)
9 ⅝ by 8 in. (24.4 by 20.3 cm.)
This early print is in generally very good condition. The following are only visible under close examination: hairline scratches and faint linear impressions that do not appear to break the emulsion; and some small liquid droplets along the top edge. The print is unevenly trimmed to the image, notably along the left edge. The corners and edges are very slightly worn. A sharp crease runs the length of the right edge and is intermittently visible, with attendant deposits of retouching.
There is some staining and soiling on the reverse. '38062 [circled]' and '10-10T' are written in pencil in an unidentified hand.
When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
