Property from an Important Private Collection, Sold to Benefit The Asia Foundation
mounted, signed, titled, and dated in pencil on the mount, annotated 'Christmas Greetings / Love Sonya' in pencil on the reverse, framed, a Michael Shapiro Photographs label on the reverse, 1933
8⅞ by 6½ in. (22.5 by 16.5 cm.)
This highly detailed print is in generally excellent condition. It is silvered at the edges of the image.
The photograph is mounted to a slick white board, also characteristic of mounts that Edward Weston used at the time. The mount is soiled, abraded in a few areas, and has several small liquid stains. The mount is slightly darker in a band where it was previously covered by an overmat. The reverse is soiled and stained overall.
