This unique object is in generally excellent condition. As is common with Peter Beard's photographs as a result of his working process, there are handling creases, faint surface scratches and impressions, soiling, and occasional fingerprints. None of these detracts from the overall fine appearance of this work.
The photograph is annotated in white ink: 'Kansas City, June 1972; Mick Jagger opening with "Brown Sugar" for "Exiles [sic] on Mainstreet" for the Truman Capote book: It shall soon be here (never to be done)' and 'Peter Beard Box 603 Montauk.'
Labels and stamps on the reverse are: Allene Lapides Gallery, Santa Fe, N. M.; Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales, Madrid; The Time is Always Now, New York; a-d Gallery, Miami, F. L.; The Boyd Gallery, Dallas, T. X.; and Camera Work / Berlin.
