PORTRAIT OF A GENTLEMAN, FULL LENGTH, IN A HAT AND HOLDING A SWORD
oil on canvas
canvas: 30 by 22 in.; 76.2 by 55.9 cm.
framed: 36½ by 27¾ in.; 92.7 by 70.5 cm.
Canvas is tightly lined so the image appears a little pressed as a result. The sitter reads well, though there is some minor thinness to the paint surface. Two discolored spots of retouching, and possible old repair, are visible, one at right along the column in the background, the other at left on the center of other column. Inspection under UV shows some scattered thin marks of retouching here and there. Offered framed.
