The uncradled two plank oak panel is stable and secure with original bevels on all four sides, with a barely perceptible convex bow. The painted surface is in good order, resting under a thick layer of old varnish. Under ultra-violet light some retouching to the panel grain can be seen, mostly limited to the right hand two thirds of the sky. These can be seen with the naked eye, especially in raking light, but are Inconsequential and not disturbing. The painting could hang as it is, or could easily be made clearer and brighter by a simple cleaning, but the plaster gilt frame could be improved on.
