A parcel gilt mounted agate bowl, of related design and dated 1870 by the Parisian craftsman Jules Wièse (1818-1890), was offered Sotheby's Paris, 1st December 2011, lot 129. Wièse trained in Berlin and moved to Paros where he worked with Jean-Valentin Morel. Subsequently in 1839, he became chef d'atelier and then partner with the Froment Meurice.
