FIRST EDITION. The Venetian painter Piazzetta (1682-1754) executed commissions for various Venetian and foreign nobles, many of whom are named in the list of subscribers. He produced drawings for more than sixty books, the most famous of which is Albrizzi's 1745 Gerusalemme Liberata. The plates here were produced after Piazzetta's death by his pupils Marco Pitteri and Francesco Bartolozzi, who provided a copy of each of his drawings in their own distinctive style.
