A LARGE GOLD HUNTING CASED KEYLESS LEVER MUSICAL WATCH WITH AUTOMATON AND CENTRE SECONDS

CIRCA 1880

[瑞士製大型黃金音樂活動人偶懷錶,年份約1880]


Movement: frosted gilded two train, tandem winding, lever escapement, bi-metallic compensation balance, the music played on a pinned cylinder via steel comb, plate above the comb engraved Gasparone Roten aus dem Süden, backplate with engravedbee motif

Dial: white enamel, Roman numerals, outer ring for minutes with track for seconds above, central polychrome enamel painted harbour scene with automaton musician playing a violin, his right arm moving the bow, slides beneath bezel above 12 o'clock for activating music, above 2 for hand setting and below 6 for seconds stop/start

Case: gold, both covers with engraved coat of Arms of the Russian Empire, gilt metal cuvette, inner back bezel with control marks
